CandyStations = Deborah Johnson, a multi-disciplinary artist living in Brooklyn, New York. Original, I know.

I primarily design and perform live visual accompaniment, for music groups including Sufjan Stevens, Wilco, Lambchop, Calexico and Chocolat & Akito. In addition to performance work, I produce web, print, animation and video projects for a wide range of folks.

However, CandyStations is not always limited to one lady. I have collaborated with a number of other programmers and artists in realizing several projects; programmer Shea Ako and painter Fred Tomaselli for Wilco, filmmaker James Clauer for Lambchop, and artist / programmer Siebren Versteeg for my recent work with Sufjan Stevens.

In January I teamed up with Braden King from Truckstop Media to produce and perform a multi-media multi-surface installation for his in progress film, HERE, as part of Sundance's New Frontier on Main exhibit.

If you'd like to have a CandyStations experience of your very own, please e-mail play@candystations.com and I'll gladly see what can be done about it.

Thanks so much for coming out,
Deborah

P.S. I am often but mistakenly regarded as some kind of hardass by people who don't see me trip over my own shadow or come completely undone in the face of tiny animals on fingers.

P.P.S. I also play Visiting Professor at Pratt Institute and Brooklyn College in New York.
